In 2018 Bancontact Company and Payconiq Belgium joined forces and merged to become Bancontact Payconiq Company. The company is an initiative by AXA Bank, Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING and KBC. The Payconiq by Bancontact payment app makes mobile payment easy and safe in physical shops, webshops, peer to peer and also to pay invoices or bills. The app is targeted at all Belgians and operates on both iOS and Android smartphones. It is accessible to clients of 19 banks. In 2020 Belgians paid 125 million times with the Payconiq by Bancontact app or with a bank app offering the Bancontact and/or Payconiq payment methods. The Bancontact card remains the reference for electronic payments, with a strong boom for contactless payments: 442 million contactless payments with the Bancontact card in 2020.With the Bancontact card and the Payconiq by Bancontact app together more than 1.65 billion payments were registered in 2020. The app and payment card complement each other perfectly, enabling users to pay wherever they are, in an instant.

As a local player Bancontact Payconiq Company offers payment solutions, secure and tailored to each merchant, whether it is Payconiq or Bancontact. The company’s main mission is to continue developing electronic payment solutions and to make them increasingly “invisible”. 2020 has been the year in which we have all found ourselves changing the way we live our lives and the way we pay for things. Since the corona crisis first struck, significantly more Belgians have taken innovative new payment methods to heart, such as paying contactlessly with cards and using mobile apps. That’s one of the main findings of the Bancontact Payconiq Company’s Payment Survey 2020.

Some of the headline results:

  • 55% of Belgians would prefer to pay contactlessly with a bankcard of smartphone.
  • 72% of Belgians have already paid contactlessly this year. That’s an increase of 123% compared to 2019
  • (32%).
  • 59% of Belgians say they trust paying contactlessly without a PIN code. Last year, that number was only
  • 37%.
  • 43% of Belgians have only started paying contactlessly since the beginning of the corona crisis in March.
  • 43% of Belgians pay contactlessly at least once a week with their bankcard without a PIN code. In 2017,
  • the figure was just 3%.
  • 41% of Belgians want to be able to make mobile and contactless payments in their local shops.

Batopin is an initiative of Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING, and KBC, and was set up early 2020. Batopin wants to optimise access to cash in Belgium with a bank-independent cash dispenser network. This is in line with our society’s declining need for cash. Safety and efficiency are key, as well as financial and social inclusion. Partners such as banks, and stakeholders such as politicians, cities, and associations, will be welcome to discuss the developments concerning the future of cash in our society.

Dialogic assists Batopin in its contacts with all its stakeholders with the aim of creating the first operational ATM by summer 2021.


myPOS offers independents, traders and SMEs a complete solution enabling them to accept and process electronic payments. The offer of multifunctional POS terminals features super-affordable prices, but also includes making a multi-currency account available free of charge.

In 2018, myPOS decided to open a number of flagship stores throughout Europe in order to to take its products directly to potential customers. One of these European cities is the Belgian city of Antwerp. Dialogic has announced the opening of the store in Antwerp to the press.


Founded in 2005, Buckaroo is a Payment Service Provider with agencies in Utrecht and Brussels. The company offers a wide range of payment services: Smart Check-out with 40 (inter)national payment methods for e-commerce, customized credit management, subscription services and marketplace splits-payments. For Benelux, more than 3 000 companies, including big groups and online retailers use Buckaroo’s payment technology.
